For this blog post, we’re going to talk about some ways to save money while shopping for groceries. While this topic obviously isn’t specific to the world of home inspections, the fact is that we’re all feeling the economic impact of this pandemic, and it can’t hurt to get tips about things like this wherever we can.

Don’t be afraid to shop at discount chains. We are mentally conditioned to believe that a grocery chain that is more well-known or has more locations means that the products they sell are inherently better. However, the fact is that in many cases, the products are exactly the same. The advantage of discount chains, though, is that the prices are much cheaper than the bigger stores.

Focus on pantry staples. While it can be tempting to go for the special cuts of meat or other specialty products, focusing on pantry staples like rice, oats, or canned foods is more cost-effective because these staples last much longer than other items.
